And, breastfeeding longer than the recommended six months can provide additional protection,” says Lindsey Wohlford, wellness dietitian.”
Early detection is crucial when it comes to breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, “when breast cancer is detected early and is in the localized stage, the 5-year relative survival rate is 99%.” Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to emphasize to your clients the significance of monthly breast self-exams and scheduling regular exams as well as mammograms with their primary care physician.
